Road to Memphis Band Challenge - Aug 29thThe Road to Memphis Challenge is the Ventura County Blues Society’s competition to select the band that will represent our organization in the 2016 International Blues Challenge to be held January 26-30, in Memphis, TN.
Up to 250 bands from around the world converge on Beale Street to perform before the music industry looking for new talent, with the chance to win recognition and prizes that include major festival performances and more. But the only way a band may participate is to win a competition held by one of The Blues Foundation’s affiliated societies such as the Ventura County Blues Society.
The Road to Memphis Challenge will be held at the Studio Channel Islands Arts Center, Camarillo on August 29th 2015. Applications to participate in the competition will be accepted now until August 8th 2015. Ten eligible bands that meet our criteria as described below will be able to compete. Each band will perform Saturday August 29th 2015. Performance times will be scheduled by a random drawing. Due to possible scheduling delays, please do not schedule additional gigs on this day. The Ventura County Blues Society will support the winning band with $3000 in transportation & lodging.
